Healthcare Learning Systems (HLS)
The Healthcare Learning Systems (HLS) is an innovative approach developed by the MHSSP team to improve the quality of health care delivery at public health facilities. In Meghalaya, the diseases and medical emergencies commonly seen in the areas of maternal and child health, infectious and non-communicable diseases require constant updating of knowledge of the providers to manage them.
Clinical vignettes or case scenarios have been developed encompassing case presentations, taking a history, clinical examination, investigations, management, and follow-up protocols at both basic or primary care and advanced or secondary care levels. This platform helps medical officers and nurses assess their knowledge. It supports them in learning the latest management protocols as per the national guidelines and standards of care, while using the state’s essential drugs list and available equipment and technology.
It is a continuous learning system helmed by state experts and national program trainers delivered through an online platform, which can also be used in an offline mode. The participation and completion of these clinical vignettes by the healthcare providers adds to the IPA scores of the healthcare facilities they work in.
